Upward provides official graduate-level credits through our partnership with UMass Global, designed specifically to meet the Florida Department of Education's requirements for professional certificate renewal. Whether you’re looking to satisfy state mandates or advance on your district’s salary scale, we provide the path to get you there.
To renew your five-year Professional Certificate in Florida, you must complete a total of six (6) semester hours (SH) of college credit (or 120 inservice points).
To satisfy the full 6 SH requirement, complete two 3-credit Upward while also earning Upward Rewards in the process.
Florida mandates the following in your renewal credits:
Many school districts, like Miami-Dade County Public School, accept graduate credits for the Specialist Credential pay differential, which is currently worth over $5,600 annually.
Check with your district administrator to see if Upward's graduate-level credit can advance your base salary.
Confirm requirements and approval with your district administrator and select your courses.

We'll email you your welcome packet, and you're all set! Complete coursework between one and six months (not earlier or before) from the date of your registration.
