Simplify Your Certificate Renewal & Maximize Your Teaching Salary

Florida Teacher Certificate Renewal

Satisfy Your 5-Year Cycle: Just two of our 3-credit courses meet the full 6-semester-hour (120 inservice points) requirement to renew your Florida Professional Certificate.

FDOE Mandates Covered: Easily check off your state-required 1 semester hour in Teaching Students with Disabilities (SWD) and 2 semester hours in Evidence-Based Reading (Florida Rule 6A-6.053) without jumping through extra district hoops.

Seamless Transcript Processing: Because your official transcripts come directly from a regionally accredited university (UMass Global), they are fully accepted by the Florida Department of Education (FDOE). No confusing vendor certificates to track down.

Florida Teacher Salary Advancement

  • Permanent Base Salary Raises: Stack graduate-level credits to move across your district's salary schedule or qualify for lucrative Specialist Credential pay differentials (worth over $5,600 annually in districts like Miami-Dade).
  • Fast-Track Lane Placement: Skip the slow burn of tiny district professional development stipends. Moving up a salary lane via university credits permanently compounds your lifetime earnings.
  • Unbeatable ROI: At just $240 per course, scaling your district’s pay scale pays for itself within the first few months of your salary reclassification.

Note: Because Florida school districts establish compensation plans and salary schedules independently, we always recommend confirming your course selections with your district administrator or human resources team first. Syllabi are available upon request to make your approval process effortless.

Florida Teacher FAQs: FDOE Certificate Renewal & Salary Advancement

How do graduate-level university credits convert to Florida inservice points?

Under Florida Department of Education (FDOE) rules, one (1) semester hour of college credit is equal to twenty (20) inservice points (also known as component points).

Because Upward courses are official 3-semester-hour graduate classes, each single course satisfies 60 inservice points. Taking just two courses fully satisfies the 120 inservice points required for your 5-year certificate renewal cycle.

Do these courses satisfy the FDOE Teaching Students with Disabilities (SWD) and Reading mandates?

Yes. Florida requires at least 1 semester hour (20 inservice points) in Teaching Students with Disabilities (SWD/ESE) and specific tracks require 2 semester hours (40 inservice points) in Evidence-Based Reading (Florida Rule 6A-6.053).

Our targeted exceptional student education and literacy courses are designed specifically to meet these state certification requirements.

We always suggest securing official FDOE confirmation prior to registering.

How do I use these credits to move up my district’s salary schedule?

Florida school districts negotiate local compensation plans independently, but many maintain a salary schedule that rewards advanced preparation through lane placement or salary reclassification (e.g., Bachelor's to Master's equivalent, or stacking credits past your degree like BA+15 or MA+15).

Because your transcripts are issued at the graduate level by an accredited university, they provide the official academic verification required by district human resources departments to process your base salary raise.

What if I need my course approved by my principal or HR department first?

We always recommend verifying course selections with your school administrator, union representative, or district HR team to ensure alignment with local contract rules.

To make this effortless, detailed course syllabi are available upon request—simply reach out to support@upwardteachers.com and we will send them over immediately.

What happens if I complete my courses close to the June 30th FDOE certificate expiration deadline?

If your Professional Certificate expires on June 30th, your coursework must be fully completed before that date with enough time for evaluation and university processing (two weeks is a conservative but safe cushion).

Because Upward is 100% asynchronous, you can finish your final modules as fast as your schedule allows.

Remember, separate from your coursework, you must submit your online application and processing fee via your online account on the FLDOE Certification Online Portal prior to the June 30th expiration date. You do not need to wait for your grades to post or your transcripts to ship before hitting "submit" on the state application.
