ASPDP FAQs
What are A+ Credits and how do they impact my salary?
In New York City, A+ Credits (or P Credits) are specific professional development units required to reach the MA+30 salary differential.
Our ASPDP-approved courses provide a streamlined and inexpensive way to earn these credits and move across the salary scale.
Can I use these courses for NY State CTLE hours?
Yes. Upward ASPDP courses are valid for New York State CTLE (Continuing Teacher and Leader Education) requirements.
Our courses are ASPDP-approved and are automatically recognized by the NYSED for Professional Certificate maintenance.
How do I register for ASPDP A+ Credits or P Credits?
Registration is a two-part process: First, register and pay the fee on the NYC DOE ASPDP website.
Second, complete your enrollment by registering here at Upward to access your coursework. This ensures your credits are properly tracked for the Salary Differential.
What is the fastest way to get my +30 salary bump?
Our courses are self-paced and online, designed for the busy lifestyle of a dedicated educator.
Complete your course early enough to ensure your transcripts are ready for the next NYC DOE salary increment window.
Graduate-Credit FAQs
How do UMass Global graduate credits work for New York salary advancement?
Our graduate-level courses are offered in partnership with UMass Global (a regionally accredited university).
Your official university transcript shows 3 graduate-level professional development credits per course.
Because NY school districts operate under independent local bargaining agreements, coursework should be pre-approved before registration. Detailed course syllabi are available upon request to assist with your approval process.
What is the difference between ASPDP A+ Credits and Graduate Credits?
ASPDP Courses ($110 + $125 ASPDP fee): Specifically designed for NYC DOE teachers needing A+ / P-Credits or CTLE hours for their salary differential.
Graduate-Credit Courses ($240 total): Fully accredited university graduate courses suited for NY teachers outside NYC (or NYC teachers looking for university transcripts) who need accredited coursework for district salary advancement.
Can I use Graduate Credits for NY State CTLE hours?
Yes. Completed graduate-level coursework from an accredited institution counts toward your required 100 CTLE hours for New York State professional certificate maintenance.
Each 3-credit course is worth 45 CTLE hours.
How long do I have to complete a Graduate-Credit course?
Because these are fully self-paced and asynchronous, you can complete your coursework anytime between 1 month and 6 months from your date of registration. Once submitted, Upward evaluates your work within 1 week and sends your final grade to UMass Global for official recording.
